Just 32% of the world's population has access to limited and/or primitive sanitation facilities. 13% have NO access to toilets, latrines or any other form of modern sanitation. This leads to the practice of open defecation, contamination and exposure to the risk of microbial infections. In Pakistan 20% of the rural population do not have access to a toilet. By identifying the need for sanitation facilities in schools and clinics in rural areas, the Javat Foundation endeavours to revamp or in most cases install suitable and safe amenities in an attempt to reduce microbial contamination and curb the spread of water-borne diseases thereby encouraging personal hygienic.
